Import Vehicles

In order to register an imported vehicle in Australia, the vehicle needs to
be fitted with a Compliance plate. Before the vehicle can be imported, it must
be listed on the RVCS ‘SEVS’ register The vehicle must be modified
and inspected to ensure it meets the requirements of the ADR’s (Australia
Design Rules), once an approval is granted by the Department of Transport and
Regional Services the identification (Compliance) plate can be attached. Mobility
Engineering is licensed to modify, inspect and fit a compliance plate to the
vehicle. Below are the vehicles Mobility Engineering holds the license for:
Used Vehicles:
On the 8th of May 2000 the Federal Government introduced the Registered
Automotive workshop Scheme to control the importation of used vehicles. In mid
2003 SEVS (Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme) was implemented to reduce
the importation of poor quality vehicles, it required that each used import
be certified by a Registered Automotive Workshop.
Each Registered Automotive Workshop needs to prove that each specific vehicle
meets the ADR (Australian Design Rule) requirements. Vehicles that are manufactured
prior to 1st January 1989 fall outside the SEVS scheme, they still require an
Engineering Certificate in order for them
to be register within Australia.
We here at Mobility Engineering we are a Registered Automotive Workshop and we carry the licence for the following vehicles (some are works in progress):
New Vehicles:
You can also import new vehicles into Australia under the New Low Volume Scheme.
