Hand Driving Controls

Hand controls for accelerator and brake

Picture1

The Carospeed is a floor mounted hand control that is designed to be used with your left hand to operate the accelerator and brake in the vehicle.  Its styling and positioning in the vehicle make it look like a factory accessory blending in with the rest of the interior.

You push the lever of the Carospeed forward to brake and pull towards yourself to accelerate.  Every model comes standard with a hill holder function, acting like a park brake, leaving your hands free to change gears or adjust other components in the vehicle.  The same button can have the option of cruise control wired in.

The Carospeed is designed in a way to optimise the space around the driver, being positioned along the transmission tunnel means that you can still have full functionality of your steering wheel and not compromising on knee-room.  The other advantage of its positioning is the ability to keep the knee-airbag of the vehicle intact and not changing the safety features of the vehicle.

Carospeed Menox

Carospeed Menox is a universal floor-mounted none car specific hand control that moves the accelerator and brake pedals to an intuitive hand control; pull for gas and push to brake. Thanks to Menox's advanced design, each control is ergonomic, conforming to a person’s natural hand-wrist-arm motion.

Each Carospeed Menox handle comes fitted with a hill holder to hold the brake pedal down. In this way hands are freed at traffic lights to change gears or tune the radio. Cruise Control frees the hand reducing muscle fatigue and allowing the driver to concentrate on driving.

Push/Pull and Push/Pat hand controls for accelerator and brake

The conventional hand controls have been the traditional way to operate the vehicle using your right hand.  Its simple yet effective design has been helping wheelchair bound drivers on the roads for many years with two control variations, either the push/pull or push/pat design.

The Push/Pull hand control is installed off the steering wheel and its handle is pushed forwards to brake and pulled towards yourself to accelerate the vehicle.

The Push/Pat hand controls is also installed off the steering wheel and its handle is pushed forwards to brake and pushed down towards the floor of the vehicle to accelerate, reducing the effort required.

Electronic boxes can be wired into the handles of both designs giving you the options of indicators, headlights, windscreen wipers or horn while you are driving the vehicle.

KIA SOUL LF12

The brake lever LF12 makes the brake control manual by transferring it from the pedal to the wheel. It can be installed in cars with automatic gear, sequential transmission or automatic clutch. It represents an ideal driving solution for the drivers with partial or complete lack of lower limbs functionality.

To brake it’s enough to push the lever forward, toward the dashboard. It can be installed on the right or on the left of the steering wheel.

The lever handle consists of a knob made of a material which doesn’t transmit heat or cold to the hand. It’s equipped with three buttons: horn, hill holder and economizer. The economizer (when in combination with a Kivi electronic accelerator) reduces the power of the vehicle: when the device is activated, the power of the car is reduced so as to be ready for those situations requiring particular driving awareness (e.g. newly licensed drivers, parking manoeuvres or simply in city traffic in order to reduce the fuel consumption). To engage the hill holder, just exert a pressure on the lever and press the respective button. To disengage it, just press the lever a bit further down and let go.

The CT12 Slider Hand Control makes the acceleration and the brake controls manual by transferring them from the pedals to the wheel. It can be installed in automatic gear changing vehicles and power-assisted steering vehicles. The hand control represents a driving solution for drivers with partial or complete lack of functionality to the lower limbs and possibly - one or both upper limbs.

The CT12 is placed parallel to the steering column, on the right or left side, depending on the driver’s needs. Its placement doesn’t obstruct the airbag opening, keeps all the steering wheel regulations and doesn’t alter the view of the dashboard. The mechanical parts of the device are placed outside the dashboard, in order for them not to be in the way when entering and exiting the vehicle or when loading a wheelchair. They’re fixed as close as possible to the lower side of the dashboard.
