Wheelchair Vehicle Information

Information Wheelchair Vehicles | Citroen Berlingo | Renault Kangoo | Volkswagen Caddy | Holden Combo Tour | Chrysler Voyager | Chrysler Grand Voyager | Holden Zafira

This site offers several models of wheelchair vehicles that all use a basically similar conversion package.

For the wheelchair passenger Mobility Engineering designs a hydraulic kneeldown system, the so-called NIVO-system, that facilitates the entrance by a wheelchair user.

A short lightweight ramp gives easy access to the rear of the car. The NIVO hydraulic system reduces the angle of entry of the ramp, by lowering the rear of the car. This system is operated by a one-button control

An optional 1 or 2 seats can be installed left and right of the lowered floor, directly behind the front seats.

Universal wheelchair tie-down system, consisting of 2 electrically controlled roll-up systems at the front and 2 removable straps at the rear, to firmly and safely tie down the wheelchair.

The rear straps of the tie-down system are equipped with a quick-release, making it easy to remove the straps from the lowered floor.

The spare tire is mounted in the interior, against the left wheel arch, and is upholstered with a tire cover.

In many cases the center part of the bumper, that has to be removed for access to the lowered floor, is placed on the tailgate, making the modification barely noticeable.

Further specifications for the different makes and models consist of a lowered floor, from directly behind the front seats to the rear of the car.
The interior of the car is slightly modified after this conversion. The lowered part of the floor is upholstered with non-slip material.

The aluminium ramp, which is covered with non-slip material, provides easy entrance to the car.

If one doesn't require a NIVO system it is possible to access the car with a longer folding-ramp.
This setup does require more parking space.

The many options and high quality finish guarantee maximum driving pleasure.

For specified information, like sizes, interior height, seat possibilities etc. please check the individual makes and models.

The wheelchair user personally uses a three-point seatbelt, which is adjustable at shoulder level. The wheelchair tie-down system meets the NEN 2746 norm.
