Mobility Engineering offers several models of wheelchair Accessible vehicles (WAV). These packages are ready for use and offers optional equipment such as hydraulic and/or electric kneeldown system to even further enhance ease of entrance by a wheelchair user by use of a short lightweight ramp to the rear of the car. Other options include automatic rear ramp or lifts (insert link here to lifts and ramps section). The standard conversions utilises the maximum numbers of the original seating positions as possible. However; in some vehicles the retention of these may not be possible in which case fitment of optional additional after-market seat may be possible.
All packages include wheelchair tie-down system, consisting of 2 electrically controlled roll-up systems at the front and 2 removable straps at the rear, to firmly and safely tie down the wheelchair. The rear straps of the tie-down system are equipped with a quick-release, making it easy to remove the straps from the lowered floor. Other smart optional ties down systems are also available such as our Carosafe system (insert link here). In some vehicles room for spare tyre may have to be custom made b y altering the interior trims that may be charged extra. In many cases the centre part of the bumper, that has to be removed for access to the lowered floor, is placed on the tailgate, making the modification barely noticeable.
The lowered part of the floor is either upholstered with non-slip material or gel coated for easy maintenance and wear and tare. The ramp, which is covered with non-slip material, provides easy entrance to the car. The many options and high quality finish helping to maximise driving pleasure.
