Heavy Vehicles Over 4.5T GVM
Heavy Vehicles in Australia that are more than 4.5T GVM must now operate under the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator laws and guidelines. The NHVR uses the National Code of Practice VSB 6 as its endorsed guidelines for vehicle modifications, you can find a copy here and it’s a good idea to consult this guideline when you are undertaking modifications to your Heavy Vehicle, if you are unsure about a requirement please contact one of our engineers for no-obligation advice. All modifications must be certified as per the requirements of VSB 6 and the NHVR Guidelines, our unrestricted certifying engineers can assess and certify any compliant modification against the requirements of VSB 6 and issue you with a compliance certification, engineers certificate and modification plate.

- Gas system installation is certified to local codes by a certified Gas Fitter/Plumber.
- Electricity installation is certified to 240V standards by a qualified electrician.
- Security of newly fitted products such as cupboards, toilets etc to the vehicle body are secured to the vehicle body and structure.
- Number of berths and where they are located within the vehicle
- Tare weight of vehicle versus GVM capacity of vehicle, being enough capacity to carry all additional goods a person may carry in a camper, such as bedding, cooking utensils etc.
